It wasn't really hard and the transfer of
my gamertags went pretty well. I had a little trouble
with the menu because my controller was REALLY sensitive
and I wasn't caressing it the way I should have. The
only thing that I really have been scratching my head
about is the big ass power cord that has a brick right
in the middle that ways a TON. I have only been able to
guess that it is Xbox's own power surge protector.
Someone might have to help me understand it. The fact
that my controller is wireless was amazing until after 1
day of gameplay and my controller died in the middle of
a game. Yeah it was LAME! So I went and picked up the
plug-n-play which was very reasonably priced. The catch
is that you have to have your Xbox on for it to charge;
so, really you plug-n-charge which is cool all on its
own. Now you can lay it on its side or stand it up like
the PS2 but since I have cats I saw the benefit right
away that it needs to lay flat. It molds to my old Xbox
really well.
The features:
Lets start with the dashboard- System
Tab- You can change all sorts of hoop-la and actually
connect your 360 to your computer or laptop through a
router and import pictures and
put them in the background. You can do family settings
if need be and check your memory if the need arises.
Media Tab- Music, Pics, Video, Media Center. In-game you
can play your
own music and it will over-ride the games music and let
you choose your own playlist to rock-out too which is
cool. BUT only on 360 games not original Xbox games. The
video you can import montages and watch them in HD if ya
like from your computer OR you can watch the RvB which
is awesome. I downloaded a trailer of RvB and it was
SAWEEET! Pictures... Import them and make your own theme
which is awesome because you can have each tab in the
dashboard a different pic. Media Center, its were you
connect to your computer to and it is the best portal
for uploading stuff onto your 360. Games Tab- You can
check out your achievements, the games you have played,
Xbox arcade games, demos, and trailers. The demos are
games that come out and you can download and play right
away. Just a level or two like most demos but it really
helps you pick out which games you want to play. With
games at $60 a pop then it REALLY comes in handy. I
downloaded Condemmed and was FREAKED OUT, that game was
scary! So I will probably wait and buy it used. I also
downloaded PGR but haven't played it yet because frankly
I just haven't had time. Trailers, for all you movie
buffs this is cool. The only use for it I have really
seen is that I downloaded the RvB trailer and a music
video from audioslave. The ARCADE is exactly that I am
soooo hooked on Gauntlet (1985) its ridiculous The RGB
and monotone voices is amazing. For people that really
enjoy arcade gaming or even kinda like it this is a HUGE
plus! This tab also shows you what games you have played
and how many achievements you have for each. This option
and the achievements option should really have been
combined but they aren't but they do the same thing.
Achievements have been really addicting for me. I get so
jealous when someone has more achievements in a game
then me but it pushes me to be OCD to get the
achievements in the game. Xbox Live Tab- DUN DUN
DUUUUUUN! Oh this tab says it all. Its where you
connect. You can see how many friends are online and how
many messages you have. The cool thing is that is you
get a message from someone on halo that is a voice
message you can listen to it and if you have a billion
messages from one person :-) you can just delete them
all by pressing x a bunch of times instead of having to
hear bullshit. You can also private chat with friends.
Just the other day one of the members of the pickle
train was playing PDZ and I was on DOA4 and we were
chatting and hanging out. Then I watched a movie and we
still were chatting. I took out the game put in the
movie and we never lost connection. almost like two
different programs running.
The controllers:
LOL-True story: Hanging out at my
house and everyone has come over to check out the new
360 and all of a sudden it turns off and then on and
then off and then off no one had a controller in hand
and I was pissed off. So I have Xbox help (help=LOL) on
the phone and they are putting me through the horrible
hold music. When one of the guys scoots his couch
cushion back and picks up the remote control. Apparently
we had been sitting on it and every time one of us got
up it turned the system on or off. It was hilarious
because one person would get up and manually turn it on
(cause we thought it was the controller) and then sit
back down and it would turn off. Damn little controller!
It is UBER sensitive and apparently can get signal
through couch and ass. The remote control is cool and
does everything your controller can do. Except I
wouldn't try to play games cause the buttons are small.
The controller: Ahhhh, *sigh* sorry but I have small
hands and this controller fits them perfect. I just have
to get used to the extra buttons at the top which throw
me off in halo soooo much. I am always pushing the wrong
button. You can turn your console on from the controller
and turn it off as well. To connect an extra controller
really threw me off it wasn't right there and easy to
see. But in reality it is just point and click. They
turn off with no use in 8 minutes to save battery life
which is cool and they are really easy to turn back on.
Remember the Xbox play back kit that cost 30$? Yeah with
the 360 you can use the remote control they give you OR
you can use your game controller. That rocks.
Overall:
A vast improvement from the original system. Will it
beat out the PS3? IDK
because Xbox just got to some of the places that the PS2
has already been. (Stand-up system, controller can
direct movies) I think though that I will definitely
stay loyal until the revolution comes out and then ask
me where my gaming will take me. This system has brought
real life back to me. I like it. I like the way I game
on it. Its not so stressful. I recommend it to every
type of person even non-gamers because there are
features that make this a full entertainment system.
