“Ok Poops we’re
recording these and we need to try and scream less.” My
mic had cut out so I hadn’t heard any of that and
Compton had to tell me again. After that it was only
once where I had to be reminded to use my inside voice.
But if there could have been screaming and nail biting
this would have been the match for it.

O7AH faced off
against the The Cavegirls Sunday night for the community
tourney. It was a close one and both sides played
excellent games. After a no show for our 9 o’clock
match Steve, Compton, Nomar, and myself, grouped up and
hopped in a lobby with Zoom Demon, Venus Envy, bs angel,
and RaHikaru. For reasons unknown to me, team O7AH took
pink as their team color upon entering the lobby.
Although some of The Cavegirls were taken aback by our
color choice, they graciously turned to blue and we
begun their game type “Hello O7AH”. Despite its name,
it turned out to be a KOTH variant with a crazy hill,
3min to win, a time limit, and Human weapons set. “I’ll
be the hill bitch!” Nomar exclaimed, that turned out not
to work well at all as they overtook us. It went back
and forth for a short while then the girls pulled ahead
steadily. However O7AH set up a staunch defense in the
last minutes and the Cavegirls were unable to hit the 3
min mark. “At least they didn’t get to 3…”, said
Steve. Which Compton replied, “It’s the small things.”
Nomar lead in hill time and Steve had a murderous 14
kings killed and 41 total kills. But it wasn’t enough
to pull out the win.

1 Flag CTF On Terminal
(O7AH's Pick)

With a quick change
of team color (Pink wasn’t workin out for us and it
didn’t match Steve’s assless chaps that Nomar was
wearing). Up next was our choice and just like a prom in
the 50s we went with our steady, Terminal 1 Flag CTF. A
solid defense in the first round by O7AH left the
Cavegirls scoreless. On the offensive side we seesawed
back and forth for the beginning of the round and Nomar
went in for the grab. He managed to advance it up the
ramp a ways, but was cut down. With Compton and Steve
mopping up I grabbed the flag and scooted under the
tract and out into the open. A torrent of bullets and
Cavegirls rained down on me from the top of the garage
as they respawned. I was swept up in the deluge, as
well as Steve and Compton, but we took them all down.
That left Nomar to finish what he started and he capped
unmolested. O7AH D in the next round was almost
unflinching but the one time that the girls managed to
get it out into the open the D shone. Under the bridge
in the courtyard, Nomar and Steve were manning BRs and
cleaning up the waste, I went on a spree with the sword
and BR by the Sniper spawn. All the while Compton was
sitting back rubbing his hands together and snickering
something about minions. With the flag returned, round
over. O7AH Offense really had teamwork in mind for the
last round. Steve swung the Hog around the corner and
provided some good angles for me to go to work with the
Gauss and assist Compton in the ghost. Compton’s voice
came across the com “Keep firing on that base constantly
so I can get in there”. After some good kills Compton
was able to sneak in and grab the flag and work his way
out into the open. I said, “Go park the Hog so I can
post up and cover him.” So with a relentless stream of
Gauss shots slamming into the garage spawn hole, I was
able to keep the Cavegirls pinned down and Nomar and
Steve took out the ones that managed to squeak by.
Compton found himself capping the flag to cinch up the
win for the game.

Slayer on Lockout
(Neutral Slayer Pick)

Game
Bungie.net Stats
The tiebreaker round
was an agreed slayer match on lockout to 50. Two evenly
matched teams spawned into a game that went back and
forth like a rabbits hips in the spring. “Lost the
lead, Tied the leader, Lost the Lead Tied the leader….”
So on and so forth. Neck and neck we edged into the 40s
and found ourselves down by one. After a struggle the
score came out to 49-48 with the Cavegirls leading.
From the BR tower I managed to kill bs angel to tie us
up. The tension was palpable as Compton said, “Stay
away from anyplace a grenade could go off… Poops get
down from there!” But it was too late my last kill
betrayed my position and I was unable to escape the arcs
of blue plasma hurled at me, and the BR fire from mid
sniper.

Good games guys!
It was a standout
match worthy of fireside tales or a crotchety old Nomar
telling his grandkids in a Sean Connery voice. The
tourney is all about having fun and meeting the members
and founders from other clans, and although victory
escaped O7AH we did manage to have a great time.
